When the huge Lawson stock station has no successor, rival Australian factions see an opportunity to seize control. The series was filmed in the Northern Territory and South Australia in locations so remote they are barely inhabited – let alone shown on screen.

We really enjoyed this series

Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park – with special permission from the Traditional Owners – and Tipperary Station, a real, working stock station that is so big it has its own airport and school. Great actors.

Anna Torv is wonderful as a complex antagonist

We loved Robert Taylor in Longmeier, he plays the grumpy old man in a Western style. We loved her in Fringe but didn’t realise she was Australian because she dropped her accent.

The same goes for Michael Dorman, who was in For All Mankind

It’s amazing how actors from the UK, Australia and New Zealand can get rid of their accents and sound so American. It’s nice that the shows are set in nature and not in concrete cities where there is constant violence.

I hope there’s a season 2
